Lt. Cotterill’s bio:
Jeff Cotterill has been a member of the Athens County Sheriffs Office for 22 years.  Cotterill graduated from Alexander High School and then attended the Athens County Sheriff’s Office peace officer basic academy. He was hired by the Sheriff’s Office in 1988.  After working in the jail, Cotterill was moved to a road patrol unit where he was assigned normal patrol functions of call response, investigation of crimes and civil service duties.
In 1996, Cotterill was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was assigned as a shift supervisor to the midnight shift patrol unit.  He remained in that position until 2009 when Sheriff Kelly promoted Cotterill to the rank of lieutenant.
Lt. Cotterill remains a resident of Athens County and has an adult son who lives and works in Athens County as well.
