Detective Brice Fick's Bio:

Detective Brice Fick was assigned to his current position of training, research and development within the Athens County Sheriffs Office in January, 2009.  Detective Fick graduated from Nelsonville York High School and then continued his education at Hocking College, enrolling in the Police Science program.  After receiving an Associates Degree in Applied Science through Hocking, Fick completed the Ohio Peace Officers Basic Training Program in 1994. 

Detective Fick started his law enforcement career with the Gallipolis Police Department as a reserve officer in 1995 where he was a patrol officer.  Fick was then hired in 1996 as a full time officer at the Nelsonville Police Department where he worked in the capacity as a patrolman, felony investigator and was awarded the Officer of the Year honor in 1998. 

In March 2000, Detective Fick was hired at the Athens County Sheriffs Office and assigned as a patrol deputy.   During his career at the Sheriffs Office Detective Fick has received the Deputy of the Year award, been recognized by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7174 for excellent service in 2001, Sons of the American Revolution Law Enforcement Commendation Medal, Athens County Sheriffs Office Merit Service and Safe Driving Award.

In 2001 Detective Fick committed to becoming a law enforcement instructor, becoming certified through the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission as a basic police instructor.  This endeavor led to continued education for instruction on many aspects in the law enforcement profession of both in-service and pre-service officers.

In 2003 Detective Fick began as a part time instructor at Hocking College, teaching in the basic police academies as well as the Associates Degree program.  This opportunity led to Fick becoming involved with numerous aspects of law enforcement training, advanced training levels, becoming a certified Train the Trainer in law enforcement instructional skills and firearms instructor.  Fick has devoted a large portion of study and education in the topic of firearms training; instructing classes to police academies, in service training, advanced firearms courses, agency requalification and civilian training in carrying concealed weapons courses.  Fick organizes all training for the Athens County Sheriffs Office and is the assistant commander with the Athens County Sheriffs Office Peace Officer Academy.
