James Heater bio:
I was born and raised in Athens County, attending school at the Federal Hocking School district.  I graduated high school in 1990 and attended the Ohio Peace Officers Basic Training held by then Athens County Sheriff John Hicks.  I graduated OPOTA in January 1991.  I worked two years in Vinton County and then took employment with Meigs County Sheriff’s Office as a road patrol deputy.  In February 2000, I accepted employment with the Athens County Sheriff’s Office as a road patrol deputy.  From 2004 to 2008, I was assigned to the investigations unit.  In December of 2008, I transferred back to road patrol until November 2010, when I transferred back into the investigations unit where I am currently assigned.
