ATHENS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
DEPUTY SHERIFF ELIGIBILITY LIST

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office is currently creating an eligibility list for the position of full-time Deputy Sheriff. Applications will be accepted through December 31, 2025.  Applications can be obtained at the Sheriff’s Office, 13 W. Washington Street, Athens, Ohio 45701, Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (excluding holidays) or you may request one via email from bcooper@athenssheriff.com or bmorris@athenssheriff.com.

Starting wage is in accordance with the current collective bargaining agreement.  If the applicant has prior law enforcement experience and continued professional training, they may be eligible for a lateral transfer.  This could allow the applicant to enter at a higher pay step within the collective bargaining unit agreement.

Applicants shall be a United States citizen; possess a valid Ohio State Driver’s License; have a high school diploma or GED and must possess an Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certification. The Sheriff’s Office reserves the right to change the dates and locations of any portion of the selection process.
